Are you getting married in Prague? Or planning a destination wedding in the Czech Republic? Who will be your wedding photographer?
The following is a recommendation of the things you should consider when looking for a wedding photographer.
When selecting a wedding photographer you are selecting more than just a photographer for your wedding day. You are hiring a wedding photographer that will be with you, your family and your group all day on your wedding day. Personality is a huge part of the selection process and should not be overlooked or discounted in any way.
Your wedding photographer’s personality can set the tone for your entire wedding day and your bridal party. Ultimately it can impact your wedding photography altogether. You will more than likely be working with your wedding photographer for a year, or longer in some cases, by the time you factor in your engagement session and post wedding photography and albums.
As we do work with many couples who are traveling here for their destination wedding we are very happy to speak with you over Skype to not only discuss your wedding day but to get to know each other better. After all every couple is different and understanding your style, personality and vision for your wedding day is of paramount importance.
While price is a factor when selecting your Prague wedding photographer, it should not be the only thing that matters. We often hear horror stories from brides who made a decision for their wedding photography based on price - or the recommendation of a wedding planner who only hires 'team members' some of whom in Prague pay up to 30% pre tax to be a part of these wedding planners coterie of photographers. Sadly these choices can ruin your wedding day in the end. When its all said and done, your wedding photography will be the only thing you have to remember from your wedding day.
What will you do with all your images from your wedding photographer? Most people opt to place them in a beautifully designed wedding album that your wedding photographer should provide you with. Don’t underestimate the importance of a wedding album from your wedding day. This is your first family heirloom and your one keepsake you will have forever to remember your Prague or Czech destination wedding.
When selecting a wedding photographer you should look for an album that best represents you and your new family. Wedding albums come in all shapes and sizes. Questions you should ask your wedding photographer 1) How many pages come in the wedding album? 2) How many images will be in the wedding album? 3) What options are available for my wedding album? 4) How much retouching do you do – if any at all?
Something often overlooked when selecting a wedding photographer is the number of hours that will be offered during the coverage of your Prague wedding. Typically you will want your wedding photographer to be with you to document all the moments of your wedding day. After all, that’s what you are hiring them for. That being said, typical coverage should be about 8-10 hours.
Some wedding photographers will offer cut-rate pricing by offering less than adequate wedding coverage to entice you. These become hidden costs (or in many instances lost moments) and once you realize it, it’s often too late.
How many wedding photographers will be at your event? If you are having a small wedding (less than 30-40 people or an elopement wedding one photographer should truly suffice. However, if you are having a large event ideally you will wish to have at least two wedding photographers. This ensures that your wedding photographer is focused on working with your group and directing the day and allows the second wedding photographer to have coverage going on at the same time.
